Ken van Rees is a Canadian plein air painter which allows him to connect with the natural environment from a different perspective than his scientific background in forestry and soils. He is intrigued by the various intersections of the arts and sciences in his work; particularly, his interest in how art can be used to convey concepts about soils and charcoal from burnt forests.
