Works by Men Who Paint Show Details: Northern Landscapes October 25-26 (Friday 7- 10 / Saturday 10 - 4) Venu at Federation des Francophone 212-308 4th Avenue, Saskatoon (click for map) Artist reception Friday 7 - 10pm The Exhibit Canadian landscape artists Cam Forrester, Greg Hargarten, Paul Trottier, Roger Trottier and Ken Van Rees, also known as the Men Who Paint, will be hosting a showing of paintings October 25th and 26th at Venu at Federation des Francophone, 212-308 4th Avenue, Saskatoon. The Artist reception will take place Friday from 7pm -10pm. Northern Landscapes’ will feature pieces by the artists from their travels over the last year, including Saskatchewan locations Prince Albert National Park, Echo Lake, and La Ronge. The exhibition features paintings concentrating on the animated brushwork and playful use of colour that the group has become know for as they explore the Saskatchewan landscape. About Men Who Paint Formed in 2007, Men Who Paint embraced plein air painting. Inspired by the work and adventurous spirit of the early Canadian painters, the group, until recently, have spent most of their painting time outdoors. They have painted numerous Canadian locations, including Banff National Park, Ontario’s Algonquin Park, and Yukon’s Ivvavik National Park, and Ellesmere Island, as well as Saskatchewan locations Prince Albert National Park, Lac La Ronge, Emma Lake, and Cypress Hills. Their work can be found in private collections throughout the prairies, and is held in museum collections including the Parks Canada Permanent Collection. Halfway to Heaven Book Halfway to Heaven documents the Men Who Paint’s artistic journey though the remote Ivvavik National Park in the Yukon Territory. At the core of the book are 60 reproductions of paintings chosen from the over 100 done on site after the group was picked from artists across Canada by Parks Canada. The painters slept in tents, visiting various locations on foot, or in some instances by helicopter, to document the National Park which borders Alaska and the Beaufort Sea. Now available on-line. |
